Turtle Hatching at Tortuguero National Park

Seeing a turtle and hatch and start a life of its own must be one of the most enchanting moments to see in this world. The little turtle hatches itself from the eggs, initially blind to the entire world that it is about to embrace. Slowly, blindly, the turtle then makes it way to the ocean, attracted to it not by its looks (the turtle is initially blind) but because of the waves of the ocean making their way to the coast.

This is one kind of activity that anyone should see at least once in his/her life. It makes one appreciate his/her life even more. There are a number of places in this planet where you can see them hatch, specifically in the tropics.

One of them is the Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica. It is widely considered to be the country's top destination if you're looking forward to seeing a lot of sea turtles nesting and hatching. Despite its isolation, and despite the fact that it can only be reached via plane or via boat, it is still the country's third most visited National Park.

Another astounding fact about the National Park is its biological variety, which could be probably explained by the abundance of ecosystems in the National Park, such as rainforests, swamps, beaches, and lagoons. Its coasts are located along the Caribbean, making it the best place for a sea turtle to hatch, as mentioned previously. Among the turtles that visit here and nest/hatch are Hawksbill, Loggerheads, Green, and Leatherbacks.

Furthermore, the rivers inside the National Park is also home to sensitive populations of different threatened species, including the Tropical Gar, which is considered to be a living fossil.

I could go on and on enumerating the many things that can be appreciated here in Tortuguero, but I guess I'll just leave that for you to discover. Come over already. The turtles are making their way to the big blue ocean.
