The San Jose, Costa Rica Airport (SJO) is really located in Alajuela. If you are planning just one night in a hotel after your flight, look for Bed and Breakfasts in Alajuela, rather than a hotel in San Jose.
The airport now has free WIFI so you can surf on your laptop while waiting for your flight.
Immigration lines for incoming passenger can be quite slow.
