More tha a million visitors from U.S.A. and other countries in five monthsWhen the U.S. economy began showing signs of weakness, many speculated as to whether American tourism to Costa Rica would also begin to decline. However, in news that reassures as much as it delights all that are involved in Costa Rican tourism, statistics show that not only have visits to the country not decreased, but they have actually increased in the past year.
Costa Rica offers many possibilities for visitors who come to enjoy their vacation time or just to know the country looking for investments opportunities, vacations properties or an ideal place for retirement. With help from new marketing campaigns, the country hopes to continue increasing its tourist numbers, and continue providing quality vacation experiences and other important attractions for its visitors.
Americans have less discretionary income, meaning fewer dollars to spend on vacations both domestic and international. In addition to this large hurdle, rising fuel costs have caused airlines to greatly increase their ticket prices, making international travel even more difficult. However, despite these woes, Costa Rica has seen almost 1,000,000 visitors in the first five months of 2008, an increase of 133,000 visitors (16%) when compared to the same time period in 2007. Many of them are not only tourists, they are also real estate investors looking for business opportunities.

To pump up the slow months of May, September and October Revelo said ICT plans to pitch Costa Rica as the perfect honeymoon, extreme sports and family vacation destination.
The new strategy could also help to improve the real estate business and the arrival of new interested investors in vacations properties or in development land.
Costa Rica offers many possibilities for real estate investors, but first they have to know the country. Many people visit the country to enjoy nature and extreme sports, especially those that can be practiced at the Carribbean and the Pacific Coast.
Beyond giving facelifts to public transportation, the board also plans to use Bluetooth technology to transmit rain forest sounds to pedestrians' cell phones and introduce interactive maps of Costa Rica in key U.S. cities.
